Pencils: Guide for a Better Life

Image
It was one late afternoon, I really had nothing to do at that time so I decided to browse the net for a while. Blast the stereo for a couple of songs to set the mood while thinking what to do afterwards. I should do the laundry later on, I had no more decent clothes to wear. Bruno Mars is tearing his pipe for Grenade and I'm still sleepy from a late nap, hey what am I talking about, I should tell you about the pencils! Right, let get it on ;-) I came across one site and I'm amazed on what someone can do with the pencils. He carefully curved some of those and some of that then bang, he just sculptured a remarkable piece of art. Wish I could do the same! Well forget it, I better off writing stuff for them people who can do such things ;-) When you got bored doing nothing, just look for those crappy pencils and why not try to do the alphabet ;-) Okay that's a bit rough, maybe we can try curving heads. I don't even know who might be a good model but what the heck, t...

Beware on Malicious Friends on Facebook

Image
How many friends do you have on the most popular social networking site Facebook? Some of us intentionally adds friends or accept almost all who wanted to be friends. But do you know that it can inflict possible harm for us? Con artists are lurking in the shadows of your Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and eHarmony accounts, according to the North American Securities Administrators Association, the oldest international investor protection association. Crooks have always gravitated to so-called "affinity" frauds, which target the members of a set group such as members of a particular church, alumni association or country club. That's because victims let down their guard when they're introduced through a friend, even if that introduction is second-hand. (Think: "I was referred to you by Father Robert." Or "Sandra suggested that I give you a call.") In fact, scammers purposefully infiltrate tight-knit groups, figuring that common hobbies, li...

Dra. Fe Del Mundo, born November 27, 1911 is known to be a Filipino Pediatrician. She is the first woman admitted as  a student at the Harvard Medical School. She founded the first pediatric hospital in the Philippines. She was given international recognition because of her pioneering work in pediatrics in the country in an active medical practice that spanned long 8 decades. That includes the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service in 1977. She was conferred the rank of National Scientist of the Philippines in 1980 and in 2010, she was conferred the Order of Lakandula. She died just recently, August 6, 2011 after she suffered from cardiac arrest. She was burried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. Some of us didn't know much about the late Dra. Fe Del Mundo. I for instance know the name well but her works were somewhat out of my knowledge. Dra. Fe Del Mundo was noted for her pioneering work on infectious diseases in Philippine communities. Undeterred by the lack of well-equipped...

10 Things To Consider To Enjoy a Better Life

Image
1. Expect little, do more - it’s hard to put into practice initially, but when you strive to bring down your expectations and experience the happiness you get from doing things for the people you love, it becomes easier. 2. It’s better to walk away from an argument or a fight than to speak harsh words which you could regret later and which could lead to the destruction of valuable relationships. 3. People are more valuable than possessions – remember this the next time your child spills coffee inadvertently on your fancy shirt just as you’re leaving for work and you’re tempted to punish them for it. 4. Find the strength to remove yourself from relationships that are destructive and which leave you drained of all happiness and joy. 5. Don’t hesitate to go the extra mile for the people who really matter in your life. 6. If you have the chance to be the bigger person in any situation, don’t hesitate to be so. And while you’re at it, don’t expect accolad...

The Metro Manila During Those Times

Image
I was born and raised here in Manila, Philippines. That was way back the 70's, hey don't count the years yet, I'm not that old. I don't remember much how the city look like during those times. It took me maybe 10 years to remember what its like to be living in that era. Manila is the capital of the country, if you'll come visit here you'll surely like the place. The heat is tremendous yet its manageable. The people are warm and we're always smiling even there's nothing to smile about. If you like what you see in Manila today, imagine how it looked like say 5 decades ago ;-) Have you ever wonder what does Manila looks like during those times? Say the 50's, 60's or the 70's? What do you think about the Pasig river? Is it that dirty back in time? Can you enjoy loitering around the park? Well let's have a look what does Metro Manila looks like way back then. Look at this, this photo was taken somewhere in the bridge wh...
