Century-old Tablet Serves as a Warning in Japan

"High dwellings are the peace and harmony of our descendants. Remember the calamity of the great tsunamis. Do not build any homes below this point." Short, yet very informative! These were words written in a century-old tablet erected at the hamlet of Aneyoshi, Iwate Prefecture Northern Japan. A simple advice to the people so they will save themselves into further tsunamis that will hit the country. Hundreds of these tablets dots the coastline of Japan, some were 600 years old. All in all, they serve as a warning system for the country, where as far as we know is a repeated target of both earthquakes and tsunamis over the century. Though some of these warning tablets have no indications where to build really. Some of it simply stands there, or stood until a tsunami washed them away. One tablet reads "If an earthquake comes, beware of the tsunamis", but well of course, in the days of modern life, who will remember? For the record, there are more than 12,

The Fragile Ozone Layer

According to UN weather agency, due to the harmful chemicals and a cold winter, the depletion of the ozone layer shielding Earth from damaging ultraviolet rays has reached an unprecedented low over the Arctic this spring. According to WMO or World Meteorological Organization, the Earth's fragile ozone layer in the Arctic region has suffered a loss of about 40 percent from the start of winter until late March, exceeding the previous seasonal loss of about 30 percent. The Geneva-based agency blamed the loss on a buildup of ozone-eating chemicals once widely used as coolants and fire retardants in a variety of appliances and on very cold temperatures in the stratosphere, the second major layer of the Earth's atmosphere, just above the troposphere. According to the UN scientists, Arctic ozone conditions vary more than the seasonal ozone "hole" that forms high in the stratosphere near the South Pole each winter and spring, and the temperatures are always wa

How to Deal with Jealousy

We have to admit it, all of us are guilty when someone says jealousy! One of the things that makes “jealousy” such a loaded word is that it’s really a concoction of various other emotions, though it depends on a certain personality, it is indeed the ingredients of jealousy. Experts cited that jealousy “is the fear or worry that someone with whom you have an emotional relationship may be experiencing an attraction toward another person... it generates a host of emotions, such as sadness and inadequacy, or rage and desire for retribution. The sadness comes from the fear of losing the object of your love, and the rage comes from a desire to have it back”. Fear, worry, sadness, inadequacy, rage — as stark as those emotions sound, you may be surprised to learn that a little jealousy is perfectly healthy (and even normal) in a relationship. No jealousy at all — or huge, keeping it on a basket — are a good indication that something has gone amiss. The question is, how would you kno

Moreover, just try to enjoy yourself watching these videos ;-) Cheerio!

Facebook kicks off underage users

Facebook always had to ask the age of a certain user before one can complete a registration. Did you know that Facebook kicks off 20,000 underage users a day? The data was according to chief privacy adviser Mozelle Thompson. There's so much to reconsider though as they didn't have enough mechanism to monitor if a child had entered a false age. There are a lot of children there who lie! Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg Senator Al Franken Nearly half of all US 12-year olds uses networking sites according to the recent Pew study.
