BYD Ti7 Super Hybrid SUV Review: Price, Features, Fuel Economy, Range and Everything You Need to Know

The BYD Ti7 Super Hybrid SUV is one of the most interesting plug-in hybrid SUVs I have seen from BYD in 2026. It is big, boxy, powerful, technologically loaded, and—perhaps most importantly—it does not look like the typical BYD SUV currently familiar to many buyers.

As an electric vehicle critic, what immediately catches my attention about the BYD Ti7 is its approach to electrification. This is not simply a conventional gasoline SUV with a small electric motor added for efficiency. The Ti7 uses BYD's DM-p (Dual Mode Performance) plug-in hybrid system, combining a turbocharged gasoline engine with two electric motors and all-wheel drive.

The result is a large family SUV capable of delivering strong acceleration while still offering meaningful electric-only driving.

And there is another important development for Filipino buyers: BYD Philippines has confirmed that the Ti7 is coming to the Philippines, although an official Philippine launch date and local price had not yet been announced as of September 2026.

So, is the BYD Ti7 worth getting excited about? I spent considerable time looking at its specifications, technology, design and international positioning, and here is everything I think prospective buyers should know.

BYD Ti7: What Exactly Is It?

The BYD Ti7 is a large plug-in hybrid SUV developed from BYD's Fangchengbao family. In China, the vehicle is associated with the Fangchengbao Tai 7, while international markets are receiving it under the BYD name.

That distinction matters because the Ti7 looks much more rugged than BYD's familiar mainstream SUVs such as the Atto series and Sealion models.

I would describe the Ti7 as a modern, electrified interpretation of a traditional adventure SUV. It has a tall body, squared-off proportions, pronounced wheel arches, a high shoulder line and a very upright rear section.

But underneath that rugged appearance is a more road-oriented unibody platform rather than a traditional body-on-frame 4x4 architecture. That makes the Ti7 particularly interesting because BYD is combining the visual language of an off-road SUV with technology designed for comfortable everyday driving.

For me, that is one of the most appealing aspects of the vehicle.

BYD Ti7 Price: How Much Does It Cost?

This is where Philippine buyers need to exercise a little patience.

The Philippine price of the BYD Ti7 has not yet been officially announced. BYD Philippines has confirmed that the model will be coming to the local market, but the company has not announced a final Philippine SRP or exact launch date.

However, we already have confirmed pricing in other markets.

In the United Kingdom, the BYD Ti7 starts at £47,995 on the road. The UK model is a seven-seat AWD plug-in hybrid and is scheduled to begin customer deliveries in January 2027.

The Argentine market has also opened pre-sales for the Ti7, although the pricing structure there is different and should not be directly converted into a Philippine expected retail price. BYD Argentina describes the vehicle as a premium Super Hybrid SUV using the DM-p platform.

I would therefore avoid websites or social-media posts claiming a definitive Philippine Ti7 price unless that figure comes directly from BYD Philippines or an authorized dealer.

For reference, BYD Philippines' current official price list includes models such as the Sealion 6 DM-i from ₱1.598 million and the Tang DM-i from ₱2.148 million, but the Ti7 is not yet listed with a Philippine SRP.

That tells me the Ti7 is likely to occupy a higher position in the local lineup, but I would wait for the official announcement before making any price assumptions.

BYD Ti7 Super Hybrid Powertrain

This is where the Ti7 becomes genuinely interesting to me as an EV critic.

The DM-p Super Hybrid system combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with two electric motors—one driving the front axle and another driving the rear axle.

That arrangement provides intelligent all-wheel drive without requiring a conventional mechanical four-wheel-drive system.

International specifications vary by market, but the UK specification produces 408 PS, with a claimed 0–62 mph time of just 4.8 seconds.

Other international specifications have been reported with higher combined outputs, which is why buyers should pay close attention to the final specification delivered to their country.

The numbers are impressive considering the Ti7's size.

This is not a slow, economy-focused plug-in hybrid. The electric motors provide the immediate response I expect from a modern electrified vehicle, while the gasoline engine provides additional energy and long-distance flexibility.

For everyday city driving, the electric motors can do most of the work. When the battery's charge becomes low or additional power is required, the gasoline engine becomes an important part of the system.

That is precisely the kind of hybrid arrangement I find useful for markets where charging infrastructure is still developing.

Electric Range and Fuel Economy

The Ti7's electric range is one of its strongest selling points.

The UK model has an official electric-only range of approximately 74 miles, or roughly 119 kilometers, under the WLTP test cycle. BYD's UK materials quote the figure as 74 miles, while other markets and test cycles can produce different numbers.

In Argentina, BYD quotes up to 115 km of pure-electric range and a combined range of up to 1,015 km under the NEDC cycle. The same specification is quoted at approximately 5.9 liters per 100 km.

I want to emphasize the test-cycle difference here.

NEDC figures generally cannot be compared directly with WLTP figures. Real-world range will also depend on speed, traffic, air-conditioning use, temperature, driving style and how frequently the owner charges the battery.

Still, the concept is excellent.

If I were driving the Ti7 primarily around Metro Manila and had convenient home charging, I could potentially complete many daily journeys using electricity alone. Then, when traveling long distances to provinces where charging availability may be less predictable, the gasoline engine provides additional flexibility.

That is the biggest advantage of a plug-in hybrid SUV over a conventional hybrid or pure gasoline SUV.

Charging and V2L Capability

The Ti7 is not just about using electricity to move the vehicle.

Some specifications also include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing the battery to supply electricity to external equipment. BYD Argentina lists V2L output of up to 6.6 kW.

As an EV enthusiast, I find this particularly useful.

Imagine taking the Ti7 on a weekend trip and being able to power equipment, appliances or other electrical devices directly from the vehicle. For outdoor activities, camping and emergency situations, this could be considerably more useful than simply having a large battery.

Charging specifications vary according to battery and market configuration. International reporting has identified battery options including a 35.6-kWh pack, while some versions use a smaller battery.

Again, the Philippine specification will ultimately determine exactly what Filipino customers receive.

BYD Ti7 Design: Rugged and Deliberately Boxy

Let's talk about the part of the Ti7 that people will notice first: the design.

The Ti7 is unapologetically boxy.

The front features a broad, upright appearance with distinctive LED lighting. The body has chunky wheel arches, a strong shoulder line and a vertical rear section.

From the side, the Ti7 has proportions that immediately remind me of premium adventure SUVs, particularly the Land Rover Defender family.

That resemblance has been widely noted by automotive publications, and I think it is fair to say that BYD clearly understands the visual appeal of this design language.

However, the Ti7 is not simply a styling exercise.

Its squared-off body provides a practical advantage: interior space.

The vehicle is approximately five meters long, around two meters wide and roughly 1.86 meters tall, depending on market specification. The UK version is listed at 5,146 mm long, 1,995 mm wide and 1,865 mm high.

That is a substantial vehicle.

Seven-Seat Interior

One of the biggest attractions of the international Ti7 is its seven-seat configuration.

The UK version is specifically being offered as a seven-seat SUV, making it much more practical for large families.

Inside, BYD has clearly attempted to create a premium atmosphere.

Depending on market specification, equipment includes leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, heating and ventilation, massage functions, three-zone climate control and an integrated refrigerator.

Yes—a refrigerator.

BYD has incorporated a cooled and heated storage compartment between the front seats in certain specifications.

As someone who regularly evaluates EV interiors, I think this is a good example of how Chinese automakers are increasingly competing through technology and equipment rather than simply drivetrain specifications.

Technology and Infotainment

The Ti7 is also loaded with digital technology.

A major highlight is the 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, accompanied by a 10.25-inch digital instrument display.

Depending on specification, the vehicle can also feature a head-up display, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless charging and a premium multi-speaker audio system.

BYD's UK specification includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the broader international specification includes a wide range of connectivity and comfort features.

The sheer amount of technology is one of the reasons I think the Ti7 deserves to be taken seriously as a premium SUV rather than simply another Chinese budget vehicle.

DiSus-C Intelligent Suspension

One of the more technically interesting features is BYD's DiSus-C intelligent suspension system.

The system electronically adjusts damping characteristics to improve ride comfort and vehicle control.

This is important because a large SUV needs more than horsepower. With a vehicle this big and heavy, suspension calibration plays a major role in determining whether the driving experience feels refined or cumbersome.

The Ti7's DiSus-C system is therefore one of the features I would pay close attention to during an extended road test.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The Ti7 is also equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance technologies.

International specifications include features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, traffic-sign recognition and integrated driving assistance systems.

Exact safety equipment and ratings can vary by market, so I would not automatically assume that every Ti7 sold globally has identical equipment.

For Philippine buyers, the final local specification and official safety certification will be important details to verify when the vehicle launches.

Is the BYD Ti7 Really an Off-Roader?

This is where I would be slightly cautious.

The Ti7 certainly looks like an off-road vehicle. It has all-wheel drive, rugged styling, intelligent suspension and various driving modes.

Some versions offer terrain-focused modes for conditions such as mud, sand and snow, as well as features designed to improve low-speed control. BYD Argentina also lists a tank-turn function and crawl capability.

But I would not automatically place it in the same category as a traditional body-on-frame hardcore 4x4.

The Ti7's unibody architecture and road-focused character suggest that its primary mission is versatility rather than extreme rock crawling.

Personally, I see it as a large family SUV that can handle rough roads and moderate off-road conditions while remaining comfortable for everyday urban driving.

That may actually be more relevant to most buyers.

My Verdict as an EV Critic

After examining the BYD Ti7's specifications, technology and international positioning, I find the concept extremely compelling.

What I like most is the balance.

The Ti7 gives buyers electric driving for daily use, a gasoline engine for long-distance travel, all-wheel drive for additional traction, substantial cabin space, seven seats, strong acceleration and a long list of premium technology.

The design is certainly controversial. It is difficult to look at the Ti7 without seeing influences from established rugged SUVs. But from my perspective, the more important question is what BYD has done underneath that design.

And underneath, there is a sophisticated plug-in hybrid system capable of delivering genuinely strong performance.

The biggest question for Philippine buyers is now the price.

BYD Philippines has confirmed that the Ti7 is coming, but the local SRP and launch date have not yet been announced.

Once BYD reveals the Philippine price, I think the Ti7 will become much easier to evaluate against large SUVs from Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, Ford, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Land Rover and other premium brands.

For now, my conclusion is straightforward: the BYD Ti7 Super Hybrid SUV is one of the most technologically ambitious BYD models to watch in 2026.

It is fast enough to surprise, efficient enough to make sense as a daily vehicle, spacious enough for a family, and technologically advanced enough to compete in a much more expensive segment.

For drivers who are not yet ready to commit completely to a battery-electric vehicle, the Ti7's plug-in hybrid formula could be particularly attractive. Charge it when you can, drive electrically for daily trips, and rely on gasoline when long-distance travel demands it.

That flexibility, combined with the Ti7's size, seven-seat practicality and premium equipment, makes it a vehicle I will be watching closely when it officially arrives in the Philippines.

Cheerio!
