Since the time I discovered that I can already think on my
own, yes it is not just recently ;-), there is a lot of curiosity about
ourselves as human living alone in the universe… We called the other species
not from our planet as “Aliens”, well, there were documented events proving that
indeed there were other lifeforms besides us!!!
According to Wiki, by definition, Alien or Extraterrestrial
life is life that does not originate from Earth. It is also called alien life,
or, if it is a sentient and/or relatively complex individual, an
"extraterrestrial" or "alien" (or, to avoid confusion with
the legal sense of "alien", a "space alien"). These as yet
hypothetical forms of life range from simple bacteria-like organisms to beings
far more complex than humans. The possibility that viruses might exist
extraterrestrially has also been proposed.
"Exobiology" or "astrobiology" is the development
and testing of hypotheses on extraterrestrial life, although astrobiology also
considers Earth-based life in its astronomical context. Many scientists
consider extraterrestrial life plausible, but there is no direct evidence of its
existence. Since the mid-20th century, there has been an ongoing search for
signs of extraterrestrial life, from radios used to detect possible
extraterrestrial signals, to telescopes used to search for potentially habitable
extrasolar planets.
On 13 February 2015, scientists (including Geoffrey Marcy,
Seth Shostak, Frank Drake and David Brin) at a convention of the American
Association for the Advancement of Science, discussed Active SETI and whether
transmitting a message to possible intelligent extraterrestrials in the Cosmos
was a good idea; one result was a statement, signed by many, that a
"worldwide scientific, political and humanitarian discussion must occur
before any message is sent".
Now, where are we? Ah, Aliens are among us…
Evolutionary biologist Simon Conway Morris says it is
surprising we have not already discovered extra-terrestrials that look like us
- given the growing number of Earth-like planets now discovered by astronomers.
He based his claim on evidence that different species will
independently develop similar features which means that life similar to that on
Earth would also develop on equivalent planets.
Convergence, is a theory, says evolution is a predictable
process which follows a rigid set of rules.
"I would argue that in any habitable zone that doesn't
boil or freeze, intelligent life is going to emerge, because intelligence is
convergent," he said.
"One can say with reasonable confidence that the
likelihood of something analogous to a human evolving is really pretty high.”
"And given the number of potential planets that we now
have good reason to think exist, even if the dice only come up the right way
every one in 100 throws, that still leads to a very large number of
intelligences scattered around, that are likely to be similar to us."
He has launched a new book The Runes Of Evolution, where he
put forward all his arguments about the subject.
He has previously claimed that aliens would resemble
earthlings with limbs, heads, and bodies.
And he goes further in the new book, claiming any Earth-like
planet should also evolve predators like sharks as well as mangroves, and
mushrooms, among many other things.
Well, personally, I think there is a quite amount of
possibility in this… Let’s research more shall we???
