Image
When I first heard about the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, I immediately saw it as Toyota’s strategic move toward a fully electric future—especially at a time when fuel prices seem to rise without warning. After diving deep into its specs, features, and overall value, I can confidently say this compact electric SUV is more than just another EV—it’s a practical response to a real-world problem. First Impressions: A Familiar Yet Forward-Thinking SUV At first glance, the Urban Cruiser EV looks like a modern compact SUV designed for city life. It’s not overly flashy, but it carries a clean, functional design that feels very Toyota—reliable, approachable, and built with purpose. With dimensions around 4.28 meters long and a spacious 2.7-meter wheelbase, it strikes a nice balance between urban maneuverability and interior comfort. Inside, I found the layout to be tech-focused but not overwhelming. Dual digital displays, smartphone connectivity, and a practical cabin layout make it feel modern wit...

The Kia EV9: A Personal Look at the Future of Driving Amid Rising Fuel Costs

Image
When I first started paying serious attention to electric vehicles, I’ll admit I was skeptical. SUVs, especially large family ones, have always been associated with heavy fuel consumption, frequent gas station visits, and rising expenses every time oil prices spike. That’s why encountering the Kia EV9 felt like a turning point—not just for me, but for what driving might look like in the near future. First Impressions: A Different Kind of SUV The Kia EV9 immediately stands out because it challenges what I used to expect from a full-size SUV. It’s big, bold, and unapologetically futuristic, yet it runs entirely on electricity. What impressed me most is that it doesn’t feel like a compromise. Instead, it feels like an upgrade. Inside, the EV9 offers seating for six or seven passengers, with a spacious, almost lounge-like cabin. The flat-floor design—made possible by its dedicated electric platform—creates a sense of openness that traditional SUVs struggle to match . Features like reclinin...

My Honest Take on the BYD Atto 3: A Practical EV That Makes Sense Today

Image
When I first got behind the wheel of the BYD Atto 3, I wasn’t expecting to be impressed as much as I was. I had seen the hype around electric vehicles (EVs), especially with rising fuel prices in the Philippines, but I always wondered—is it really practical? After diving deep into its specs, pricing, performance, and real-world usability, I can confidently say the Atto 3 is one of the most compelling EV options today, though not without its flaws. First Impressions: A Different Kind of SUV The Atto 3 is a compact electric SUV that immediately feels modern and slightly unconventional. From its quirky interior design to its rotating touchscreen, it doesn’t try to imitate traditional gasoline cars—and I actually appreciate that. It feels like a vehicle designed for the future. Under the hood (or more accurately, under the floor), it runs on BYD’s proprietary Blade Battery, a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) system known for safety and durability. That alone gave me confidence, especially cons...

The first time I got behind the wheel of the BYD Tang DM-i, I immediately realized that this wasn’t just another hybrid SUV trying to ride the electrification trend—it’s a serious attempt to redefine what a practical, family-friendly, and future-ready vehicle should be. In a world where fuel prices keep climbing and full EV infrastructure is still catching up, the Tang DM-i sits right in that sweet spot between efficiency and convenience. First Impressions: Premium Without the Usual Price Tag Visually, the Tang DM-i has presence. It’s big, wide, and carries a confident stance that rivals traditional midsize SUVs. At nearly 4.87 meters long and with a wide body, it feels substantial on the road. When I stepped inside, I was genuinely surprised. The cabin feels refined—far from the outdated perception people often have of Chinese cars. Materials feel solid, the fit and finish are impressive, and everything is laid out with a modern, tech-forward approach. According to reviews, nothing ab...

Jetour Ice Cream EV Review: A Practical Answer to Rising Fuel Costs?

Image
As fuel prices continue to rise unpredictably, I’ve found myself seriously reconsidering what a “practical” car really means. In a country like the Philippines, where traffic is heavy and daily commutes are often short but frequent, the idea of switching to an electric vehicle (EV) becomes more appealing than ever. That’s exactly where the Jetour Ice Cream EV enters the conversation—a small, affordable, and city-focused electric car that challenges the traditional notion of mobility. After diving deep into its features, performance, and real-world usability, I can say that the Jetour Ice Cream EV is not just a quirky novelty—it’s a strong statement about where transportation is headed. Why the Jetour Ice Cream EV is Relevant Today Let me start with the bigger picture: fuel prices. Gasoline and diesel costs have been fluctuating and generally trending upward, making daily driving more expensive for the average Filipino. With internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, you’re constantly s...

Meet the Toyota bZ4X: Toyota’s Most Ambitious Electric Vehicle Yet

Image
The Toyota bZ4X arrived as Toyota’s flagship battery-electric SUV and — after iterative updates — is now a much stronger proposition than the first examples that reached showrooms. Toyota has pushed the bZ4X beyond its original launch form with bigger battery choices, smarter charging, and chassis and software tweaks that make it feel more like a mature EV offering rather than an early experiment.  The new Toyota bZ4X starts at ₱2,699,000 for the Dark Blue Mica variant, with other colors costing more. The Platinum White Pearl Mica variant is priced at ₱2,714,000, and the Emotional Red variant is ₱2,719,000. Reservations for the bZ4X are currently open in the Philippines. Design and packaging From the outside the bZ4X keeps the compact-crossover silhouette Toyota targeted at mainstream EV buyers: a high seating position, relatively upright greenhouse and an exterior that balances aerodynamic efficiency with SUV cues. Toyota’s later updates softened some of the earlier bZ4X’s more c...

The VinFast electric vehicle: Vietnam’s ambitious charge into the EV era

Image
When VinFast first announced itself to the world it felt like a bold bet: a young Vietnamese automaker — part of the sprawling Vingroup conglomerate — attempting to move from scooters and appliances into full-scale car manufacturing and then, almost immediately, into electric vehicles and global markets. What makes VinFast compelling is less any single model than its strategy: from rapid factory construction and European design partners to aggressive global expansion and a clear focus on battery-electric vehicles as the company’s center of gravity. VinFast electric car prices in the Philippines start at ₱645,000 for the VF 3, with other models like the VF 5 priced around ₱992,000 and the VF 7 starting at ₱1.76 million. The VF 6 ranges from approximately ₱1.419 million to ₱1.61 million, while the larger VF 9 costs ₱5.39 million.  A quick sketch of the company and its EV line-up Founded in 2017 by Vingroup’s Phạm Nhật Vượng, VinFast built a modern manufacturing complex in Haiphong a...

The Honda x Muji MS01 E-Bike at PHP 40,000

Image
Due to unstoppable increase of fuel prices, people are now mindful of the alternatives to combat the heavy expenses on transportation. One of the immediate solution to this is the use of Electronic Bikes or popularly known as E-Bikes. There are wide range of designs and manufacturers to choose from, as this kind of technology is becoming more popular everyday. Just so you know, the very first electric bicycles were documented in the 1880's and 1890's in the patent offices in both France and the United States. In France, one of the earliest was a three wheeled electric contraption, the motor power controlled with a hand-held lever system without any pedals. With a lot of brands and collaborations out there, we will focus on one particular brand, The Honda Muji Brand collaborations aren’t uncommon in the automotive and fashion worlds—and lately, we’ve been seeing more of them in motorbikes, too.
