USA trounces Italy, 3-0 Books Ticket to VNL Finals 2023

USA Superstar David Smith displayed a sizzling spikes, incredible tosses and electrifying defenses crushing down the defenseless Italy, 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 in the final 3rd set of the regulation of 2023 Men's VNL or Volleyball Nations League, Semi-finals held at Gdańsk, Poland, Saturday July 22.

Smith showcased his astonishing skills in spiking with 7 service aces leading his team to championship.

"It was hard, but it doesn't mean I'm weak," Smith said in an interview.

USA contenders looked rattled and tentative at the opening of the 1st set as Italy scored successive points off opponent's reception errors, 9-6.

However, Sanguenetti Giovanni, committed 3 service errors paving the way for Smith and his teammates to score eventually, 25-19.

Unfazed by USA surge in the 2nd set, Italy showed their mighty form as they dominated the error-prone via 12-6 demolition.

Wary of his team's weak showing in the 2nd set, coach Ben re-energized his players with his words of motivation and Smith immediately responded as he once again spearheaded his team's rally aided with better receptions from his teammates to finally clinch the match, 25-18.

As soon as 3^rd set starts, Smith and his teammates gained the opportunity to be the champion as they unleashed an incredible spikes dumping down the nemesis, 16-9.

By the end of the final set. Smith did not waste time and particularly blasted a ferocious spike in which the rival accepted their defeat and gave the USA contenders a sweet victory, 25-19.

"They were great players, they listen to my words carefully. I can really see that they worked really hard to enter the finals," delighted coach Ben said.

I am not that young, though I am not that old to have watched the Manga Series Slum Dunk. A lot of people is being fascinated with the game of basketball. Almost everyone knows how to play the game. Maybe, just maybe, NBA really popularized the sports. Apparently, one story caught my attention, and surely, it is really worth to tell ;-) Slam Dunk (スラムダンク Suramu Danku?) is a sports-themed manga series written by Takehiko Inoue about a basketball team from Shōhoku High School. It was first serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in Japan from 1990 to 1996 and had also been adapted into an anime series by Toei Animation which had been broadcast worldwide, enjoying much popularity particularly in Japan, several other Asian countries and Europe. Inoue later used basketball as a central theme in two subsequent manga titles: Buzzer Beater and Real. In 2010, Inoue received special commendations from the Japan Basketball Association for helping popularize basketball in Japan.
