Across the Philippines, typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda affected a total of 9.5 million people -- and displaced at least 600,000 -- when it slammed into the country on Friday, November 8 according to the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Though there were, as of this writing, more than 2,300 dead, there were survivors who were described as being in desperate need of clean drinking water and food.
