When we talk about a typical Filipino family, it always consists of parents with 4 kids and a Yaya. Some may not agree with us but, this is the reason why car manufacturers released AUV type of vehicles or simply put, the Asian Utility Vehicles. AUVs are marketed as cheap and simple transporter, not as rugged as a fully-committed SUV. The body design is close to that of the SUV’s but with smaller dimensions and simpler exterior design.
If you’re in the market for a 7-seater vehicle, you may want to explore all three kinds, AUVs, SUVs and MPVs.
Hence, Toyota unveils one of their fair share of 7-seater vehicle, the all new Veloz. Toyota Veloz is classified as a Sub Compact Sports Utility Vehicle or Sub-Com SUV.
MPV stands for Multi-Purpose Vehicle. MPVs are sometimes called ‘people carriers’, too, which is perhaps a more accurate name. They have tall, box-like bodies designed to create as much interior space as possible and often have more seats than a comparable hatchback or saloon. Most allow you to fold or remove the back seats in various ways to prioritise passenger space, load space or a mix of the two.
An MPV is usually more practical than a hatchback or saloon because it has a taller, more square-sided body that gives you extra interior space and makes it easier to get people and loads in and out.
On the other hand, Subcompact crossover SUV is an automobile classification used to describe the smallest segment of crossover SUV, a type of sport utility vehicle, below the compact crossover SUV. Subcompact crossover SUVs are usually based on a platform of a subcompact passenger car.
Don’t be so confused about the Sub-Com SUV Veloz and the MPV Avanza. Veloz has a lot of similarities with Avanza if you’re familiar with it, but if take a closer look, it differs in so many ways. If you examine the outside, Veloz looks so much meaner. That honeycomb grill really looks great. The Veloz is also longer, wider, and taller than the Avanza.
So, if you’re planning to purchase a new vehicle today and a typical Sedan is somehow small for you, you might want to consider the Toyota Veloz.
See you on the road and ride safe always.
Cheerio!
