The Effects of Porn Addiction to the Brain

Each time passes that I surf the net, it’s always so tempting to view some pornographic scenes. They’re just anywhere, popping from site to site. It doesn’t hurt to view one or two then you’ll never know when to stop once you get hook into it! Worst come to worst, it will develop a habitual tendency on ones part.

What is a pornography addiction then?

According to Wiki, by definition, pornography addiction is a behavioral addiction characterized by compulsive, repeated use of pornographic material until it causes serious negative consequences to one's physical, mental, social, and/or financial well-being.
Addiction to internet pornography is also a form of cybersex addiction. In the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), there is no diagnosis of pornography addiction.

Viewing of Internet pornography that is problematic for an individual for personal, or social reasons, or reasons such as time spent viewing or viewing in problematic situations is a problematic internet pornography viewing. As a result of their problematic internet pornography viewing, individuals may report depression, social isolation, career loss or decreased productivity and financial consequences.

Addiction to pornography leads to similar brain activity patterns found in alcohol and drug addicts, according to a new British study.

MRI scans of 19 addictive pornography users showed that the reward centers of the brain reacted to explicit images in a similar way that an alcoholic might respond to liquor or beer advertisements, that’s what researchers from Cambridge University have found.

According to lead scientist Dr. Valerie Voon as she told the Sunday Times in the UK, "We found greater activity in an area of the brain called the ventral striatum, which is a reward center, involved in processing reward, motivation and pleasure."

"When an alcoholic sees an ad for a drink, their brain will light up in a certain way and they will be stimulated in a certain way. We are seeing this same kind of activity in users of pornography."

Researchers say that porn addiction is on the rise, due to the ease of access via the internet and other new technologies. Preliminary findings in a separate study from the University of Sydney concluded that.

There were 3 ways to help you stop pornography addiction according to experts.

This brief training is designed to help you gain insight and understanding into the reality that you can take control of your unwanted sexual behaviors and progress down the path to the life and relationships you want most.

1. Sexual outlets and behaviors can create a chemical dependency in the brain.

2. Avoidance and willpower are NOT enough!

3. Change is Possible.

The next question is, how will you assess that you’re already addicted?

You may be wondering if your struggles with pornography, masturbation or other unwanted sexual behaviors have reached the level of an “addiction”.

There were obvious symptoms if you’re addicted on pornography, masturbation and sex.

The brain releases a tidal wave of endorphins and other powerful neurochemicals like dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin during porn viewing. These natural “drugs” produce a tremendous rush or high. People are using pornography as a drug-of-choice for escape and self-medication all over the world.

There are a lot of different opinions out there regarding masturbation. Struggling individuals and mental health professionals rarely stop to consider the brain science behind masturbation–why it’s so powerful, addictive, and difficult to stop.

Masturbation triggers the brain into releasing a tidal wave of neurochemicals including endorphins, dopamine, serotonin and more. These natural “drugs” can provide temporary relief from negative emotions, feelings of stress, insomnia and other struggles.

Sex addiction can have many sources. It begins innocently enough in the natural experimentation and exploration that comes with maturing sexually throughout life for some people. Others may have more traumatic experiences that have been a factor. Sexual thoughts and desires are very normal and natural as a rule. It’s only when these thoughts and desires become exaggerated that they turn destructive.

All of us have what we call a Human Decision System, just as we have an immune system and a digestive system. This system is centered in the brain, and is involved in every decision you make-good or bad.

The key to your success in overcoming unwanted sexual behaviors is learning how your Human Decision System works, and how to harness, nurture, train and direct this system so that you increasingly and consistently make the choices you desire most.

Understanding what we call the “Brain Science of Change” is the first step to developing a healthy, highly trained Human Decision System. You can use this knowledge to start breaking out of your unwanted sexual behaviors once you understand exactly how your brain makes choices and builds habits.

Pornography addiction begins in your mind. Some people think about it and some people don't. Pornography doesn't interest them for many people, just like auto mechanics or gardening might not interest you. But pornography is extremely interesting for the pornography addict.

Lustful thoughts can certainly increase your desire to find pornography. You might not be someone who spends a lot of time thinking lustful thoughts. But that might not be your particular spark.

Maybe you associate feelings of insecurity or loneliness with sex. When some people are feeling lonely, they usually turn to masturbation or pornography. At least for a little while, such simulated sex makes them feel un-lonely. You need to realize that loneliness is part of life if so happen that you fell in that situation. Even the most happily married man or woman in the world feels lonely once in a while.

Create an action plan for the times you are alone. Learn to enjoy being alone. Do housework, or study, or exercise, or shop, or play on your hobby, or read, or even try to get the house a new paint job. Get out of
the house and get your heart pumping and try to enjoy the sun and seize the day. Go out with your friends! When you get back, don't worry about whether you'll be tempted again. You're not exercising to keep from seeking out pornography -- you're exercising because you enjoy it, you are alone and now are the perfect opportunity.

Find things you love to do, that you can do when you're alone.

Remember, ”The only triumph of evil is for good man to do nothing”.

The Most Expensive Philippine Coin Ever Sold

I personally am fond of collecting old coins. I have an ample collection, and decent if I may add, of Philippine old coins. Though I collect coins for a hobby, some people kept on asking me how I acquire those coins and if I’m selling one. So in some cases, when I visit the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank of the Philippines), I always try to order an additional from my own to sell or give it as a gift to my friends. I always wonder, what Philippine coin is the most expensive ever sold, and how much. Priced at $22, 000 or Php 1,038,136.00 as of this writing ($1 = Php 47.19), the 1903 San Francisco Mint fifty centavos is perhaps the most expensive United States-Philippines coin ever sold. Only 2 specimens have reported and only one formally auctioned for the price mentioned. Do not mistake this one for the common 1903 Philadelphia Mint fifty centavos. This coin is an absolute rarity. How this coin surfaced? The story behind that incident is still a myste

The Great Badjang or Giant Taro

As we try to come up with things to do to make our days productive this Pandemic, a lot of people are leaning towards Gardening. Here in the Philippines, people are becoming crazy with a certain plant. It has large leaves which resembles an Elephant’s ear. Badjang, as we call it here in the Philippines, scientifically called Alocasia macrorrhizos, is a species of flowering plant in the arum family that it is native to rainforests of Island Southeast Asia, New Guinea, and Queensland and has long been cultivated here in the Philippines, many Pacific islands, and elsewhere in the tropics. It is also famous as Giant Taro. The giant taro was originally domesticated in the Philippines, but are known from wild specimens to early Austronesians in Taiwan. From the Philippines, they spread outwards to the rest of Island Southeast Asia and eastward to Oceania where it became one of the staple crops of Pacific Islanders. They are one of the four main species of aroids (taros) cultivated by Austron

Hanamichi Sakuragi: In Real Life

I am not that young, though I am not that old to have watched the Manga Series Slum Dunk. A lot of people is being fascinated with the game of basketball. Almost everyone knows how to play the game. Maybe, just maybe, NBA really popularized the sports. Apparently, one story caught my attention, and surely, it is really worth to tell ;-) Slam Dunk (スラムダンク Suramu Danku?) is a sports-themed manga series written by Takehiko Inoue about a basketball team from Shōhoku High School. It was first serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in Japan from 1990 to 1996 and had also been adapted into an anime series by Toei Animation which had been broadcast worldwide, enjoying much popularity particularly in Japan, several other Asian countries and Europe. Inoue later used basketball as a central theme in two subsequent manga titles: Buzzer Beater and Real. In 2010, Inoue received special commendations from the Japan Basketball Association for helping popularize basketball in Japan.
