Ogie and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid's Baby Nate

The world welcomes Nathaniel James “Nate” Alcasid last 8th of November, 2011. The happy couple Ogie and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid brings home the joyous baby boy last November 18.

The songwriter and songbird are as hands-on as can be with their first-born. Of course, they have waited almost a lifetime to have this moment.

Rumors has it that the baby will be named Herminio Jr. According to Ogie himself, there's nothing wrong if they will use such a name, though he admits with a smile that it is not applicable nowadays. 

When we search the name Nathaniel, this is what the books are telling. Nathaniel \n(a)-tha-niel\ as a boy's name is pronounced na-THAN-yel. According to Ogie, “Baby Nate has no yaya. He has no nursery and just rooms in with us”.

Regine have undergone a Cesarean operation. Until she recovers, she needs her midwife to attend to her needs.

“Regine is breastfeeding the baby,” says Ogie, who has written the song “Aking Anak” for his first son.




The couple has decided to share their joy over Baby Nate’s birth to less-fortunate children during his early stage of life. Ogie and Regine turned over three new classrooms to Adiangao, Camarines Sur last Nov.11.  The building was funded from the proceeds of Ogie and Regine’s highly successful Celebrity Ukay-Ukay last April.

Hanamichi Sakuragi: In Real Life

I am not that young, though I am not that old to have watched the Manga Series Slum Dunk. A lot of people is being fascinated with the game of basketball. Almost everyone knows how to play the game. Maybe, just maybe, NBA really popularized the sports. Apparently, one story caught my attention, and surely, it is really worth to tell ;-) Slam Dunk (スラムダンク Suramu Danku?) is a sports-themed manga series written by Takehiko Inoue about a basketball team from Shōhoku High School. It was first serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in Japan from 1990 to 1996 and had also been adapted into an anime series by Toei Animation which had been broadcast worldwide, enjoying much popularity particularly in Japan, several other Asian countries and Europe. Inoue later used basketball as a central theme in two subsequent manga titles: Buzzer Beater and Real. In 2010, Inoue received special commendations from the Japan Basketball Association for helping popularize basketball in Japan.

The Great Badjang or Giant Taro
