Philippines' Superman Herbert Chavez

Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Astro Boy, Robin, X-Men even Captain Barbel have their own share of wisdom being a super hero. For a 35 year old Herbert Chavez, being like Superman is understatement. I know that all of us as a kid idolized someone or anyone who claimed themselves superhero. Myself in particular as a kid believed that someday, I will be like one of the Thundercats, maybe one lion from Voltron or Steve of the Voltes 5. I don't even know why I say that being no relevance on this article. My apologies, hope you're still reading this ;-)

Meet Herbert Chavez, a self-professed pageant trainer, who happens to own 2 costume stores is a 35 year old native of Calamba, Laguna. He admits that he is really a fan, actually his words were "addicted" to both Darna and Superman himself.

Now, he's about to get famous.

Being fond of the Superman, for Herbert started way back when he is around 5 or six years old. Watching movies of his idol 'The Man of Steel' made him realize that someday, he himself will look like the same with the Superman.

His picture shown on the right was taken when Herbert Chavez was only 16 years old.

Imagine if you try to alter his nose, lips, facial structure, chin, cheeks and God knows what else through cosmetic surgeries. What do you think would come up?

Because Herbert Chavez love Superman so much, he really wanted to look like him. He decided to even change his skin color to match what Superman have.

Believe it or not, that is Herbert Chavez now, being Superman and all.

Because of his passion into superhero, specifically Superman, he has undergone series of operation just to look like his idol. It started on around 1990 when he decided to take the courage to undergo cosmetic surgeries. Though back then, it was only mostly about glutathione, liposuction and some injectables. He wanted to look more like "The Man of Steel". He has undergone a series of cosmetic surgeries for his nose, cheeks, lips and chin down to his thighs and even his skin color. He had spent merely around Php 200,000.00

In their residence in Calamba, Herbert owns a lot, and when we say a lot it's really a lot of memorabilia. Some of these though came from gifts, while a lot were say, came of course from his own pocket.

During the Yahoo! interview, he gladly posed a shot with the kids at their house at Calamba, Laguna.

Herbert Chavez was recently featured on Yahoo!Philippines and up to our knowledge is taking some photo shoot for Jessica Soho for GMA 7's Jessica Soho Reports.

Almost all comments received from Yahoo! regarding Herbert Chavez were negative. A foreigner said that one indication of the Pinoy's crab mentality was also presented when they feature Herbert Chavez. If I may say something, Herbert Chavez is happy for what he is doing, let's just let him be... There's no good pulling him down for what he has done for himself.

You can reach Herbert Chavez through his Facebook page.

Cheerio!

  1. Herbert,
Be proud of who you are and where you come from!

Altering your face and skin to look like someone else, shows me that you are having great difficulty in understanding your own true self-worth, significance and identity. The only way for you to find out your true selfworth, significance and identity is to look to Jesus Christ and to see yourself in that perfect way that He see's you. His plans and purposes for your life far more than you may know, outweigh any and all imaginary superheros. He made you the way you are because you are His own special unique design. From an artists point of view, why mess with God's handywork?
    Always Remember:
You are totally loved, completely forgiven, fully pleasing and absolutely accepted by God!

The Most Expensive Philippine Coin Ever Sold

I personally am fond of collecting old coins. I have an ample collection, and decent if I may add, of Philippine old coins. Though I collect coins for a hobby, some people kept on asking me how I acquire those coins and if I’m selling one. So in some cases, when I visit the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank of the Philippines), I always try to order an additional from my own to sell or give it as a gift to my friends. I always wonder, what Philippine coin is the most expensive ever sold, and how much. Priced at $22, 000 or Php 1,038,136.00 as of this writing ($1 = Php 47.19), the 1903 San Francisco Mint fifty centavos is perhaps the most expensive United States-Philippines coin ever sold. Only 2 specimens have reported and only one formally auctioned for the price mentioned. Do not mistake this one for the common 1903 Philadelphia Mint fifty centavos. This coin is an absolute rarity. How this coin surfaced? The story behind that incident is still a myste

The Great Badjang or Giant Taro

As we try to come up with things to do to make our days productive this Pandemic, a lot of people are leaning towards Gardening. Here in the Philippines, people are becoming crazy with a certain plant. It has large leaves which resembles an Elephant’s ear. Badjang, as we call it here in the Philippines, scientifically called Alocasia macrorrhizos, is a species of flowering plant in the arum family that it is native to rainforests of Island Southeast Asia, New Guinea, and Queensland and has long been cultivated here in the Philippines, many Pacific islands, and elsewhere in the tropics. It is also famous as Giant Taro. The giant taro was originally domesticated in the Philippines, but are known from wild specimens to early Austronesians in Taiwan. From the Philippines, they spread outwards to the rest of Island Southeast Asia and eastward to Oceania where it became one of the staple crops of Pacific Islanders. They are one of the four main species of aroids (taros) cultivated by Austron

Hanamichi Sakuragi: In Real Life

I am not that young, though I am not that old to have watched the Manga Series Slum Dunk. A lot of people is being fascinated with the game of basketball. Almost everyone knows how to play the game. Maybe, just maybe, NBA really popularized the sports. Apparently, one story caught my attention, and surely, it is really worth to tell ;-) Slam Dunk (スラムダンク Suramu Danku?) is a sports-themed manga series written by Takehiko Inoue about a basketball team from Shōhoku High School. It was first serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in Japan from 1990 to 1996 and had also been adapted into an anime series by Toei Animation which had been broadcast worldwide, enjoying much popularity particularly in Japan, several other Asian countries and Europe. Inoue later used basketball as a central theme in two subsequent manga titles: Buzzer Beater and Real. In 2010, Inoue received special commendations from the Japan Basketball Association for helping popularize basketball in Japan.
